What it means
Surgery to remove a lobe of an organ, most commonly a lung lobe in localized lung cancer. It is the standard treatment when the disease is limited and the patient can tolerate the operation.

- Lung cancer
- The most common cancer in men and the leading cause of cancer death in Romania. There are two main forms: small cell (SCLC) and non-small cell (NSCLC). Smoking is the main risk factor.
- Adjuvant treatment
- Treatment given after surgery or after the main treatment to reduce the risk of recurrence. It may be chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy or targeted therapy, depending on the type of cancer.
- Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT)
- A hormonal treatment that lowers the level of testosterone in the body or blocks its effect, used in hormone-sensitive prostate cancer. It can be done with medication (injections) or surgically.
