What it means
A discussion with a medical genetics specialist about the hereditary cancer risk within a family, the indication for genetic testing (for example BRCA1/BRCA2) and the implications of a positive result for the patient and close relatives.

- BRCA1 / BRCA2
- Genes that, in their normal form, help repair damaged DNA. An inherited mutation in BRCA1 or BRCA2 significantly increases the risk of breast, ovarian, prostate and pancreatic cancer, and can guide decisions about intensive screening or treatment (for example PARP inhibitors).
- Cancer recovery
- A process of physical and mental recovery after active cancer treatment. It includes adapted physical activity, physiotherapy, and nutritional and psychological counseling to improve quality of life.
- Cancer rehabilitation plan
- A structured program that helps the patient regain physical, cognitive or emotional functions affected by cancer or its treatment. It includes physiotherapy, speech therapy and counseling.
