What it means
A minimally invasive procedure that uses high-frequency electrical current to generate heat and destroy tumor cells, guided by imaging. Frequently used for small tumors of the liver, kidney or lung.

- Image guidance
- A technique in which the doctor uses ultrasound, CT or MRI to guide the needle during a biopsy or a drainage procedure. It ensures maximum precision and reduces the risk of complications.
- Adjuvant treatment
- Treatment given after surgery or after the main treatment to reduce the risk of recurrence. It may be chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy or targeted therapy, depending on the type of cancer.
- Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT)
- A hormonal treatment that lowers the level of testosterone in the body or blocks its effect, used in hormone-sensitive prostate cancer. It can be done with medication (injections) or surgically.
